The Consecrated Life - One Step at a Time

What does it truly mean to set your whole life apart for God's holy purpose? That question sits at the heart of this powerful exploration of Abram's call in Genesis 12. We follow an ordinary, comfortable, 75-year-old nomad who had no particular religious pedigree and no clear roadmap for where God was leading him, and yet he listened and took that next faithful step anyway. The spiritual lesson here is both simple and profound: a consecrated life is not reserved for monks or mystics. It is lived out in the ordinary moments, in the kitchen, on the commute, in the quiet decisions about how we spend our time, our money, and our energy. Abram's story reminds us that God does not call the already-perfect. He calls the available. And the invitation extended to Abram thousands of years ago is the same one extended to us today, to stop long enough to hear the voice of God and then trust it, one step at a time.
