Our Faith and Social Justice: The Social Principles of the United Methodist Church

A Small Group Study

In the swirls of conflicting voices about what matters, a clear voice of our ethical aspirations for the common good in our public policies and personal commitments is so needed. Standing in the Wesleyan tradition of forthright moral witness and ethical action the newly revised Social Principles of the United Methodist Church offers us such a voice.

In a six weeks small group study, meeting at 6:30 pm, Thursday evenings beginning September 11th in Room 106 in the Family Life Center, participants will enter into dialogue about the faith/life connect in the larger social context. Facilitated by Rev. Bill Garrard. Click HERE, or contact Bill to register and reserve your study book, $11 donation.

The 2025-2028 Social Principles address global social concerns, reflecting the diverse contexts of the worldwide church. You may read them here: United Methodist 2024-2028 Social Principles

Hope you’ll join us for a challenging time of discovering what it means to love God and neighbor with justice and mercy in the larger social context.

Women’s Bible Study Group

This discussion group is welcoming and encourages curiosity, conversation, and questions.  Led by facilitators Jean Gay & Susan Dickens, this class will meet in the Family Life Center Room 108 from 10 AM - 11 AM Thursdays.

We are currently studying "Namesake" by Jessica LaGrone.

men's bible study

Begun in 2019, our Men’s Bible Study group meets Thursday mornings at 9:00AM in our Conference Room. Strictly a study of the Books of the Bible, some choose to use commentaries to gain further insight into the material and provide clarity. As we reach the close of the book we are studying, we select another. The foremast is a discussion, instead of lecturing. All are welcome, even if not members of St. Luke’s, as we respect each other as well as thoughts and ideas. We are currently studying Philippians as a survey of Paul's Letters.
