UPDATE: Sunday Services cancelled  &  Office Closed Until  Further  notice

All Sunday On-Campus Worship Services, Sunday School, Bible Studies, and other Meetings have been cancelled until further notice. We are following current state and federal restrictions as well as our bishop's recommendations as we deal with the Coronavirus outbreak. We are using Zoom, a virtual meeting software, for virtual Sunday School, Bible Studies, and other meetings. Contact Pastor Monica for more information.

Beginning Wednesday, June 3rd at 7:30 P.M., St. Luke’s will begin offering a weekly worship service in our parking lot. You are invited to bring a lawn chair or remain seated in your vehicle for the service. We ask that you follow social distancing guidelines and the wearing of face masks when outside of your vehicle. Please note that there will be no bathrooms available, no childcare, and no offering.  With indoor worship not taking place until mid-July or later, our hope is that this service will offer individuals a safe way to gather for worship. Listed below you will find a brief worship service outline to guide you this week as we worship. Please note that if the weather is inclement this service will be cancelled. Contact Pastor Joe with any questions you may have.

Due to the NC orders to Stay at Home and recommendations from our Bishop and Conference Offices, we will not have office hours. Please contact a staff member if you need something. We have a mail slot in the door if you need to drop off your offering or other papers.

You can find our video worship service and mid-week service on Facebook, Youtube, and here. The worship service is posted on Sundays, with the mid-week service posted on Wednesdays.

Farewell Activities for Pastor Joe and Lori Westfall

June is here, and the time has come for us to say good bye to our senior pastor, Joe Westfall, and his wife, Lori. Joe has faithfully and diligently served St. Luke’s for the past four years, and is moving on to retirement at the end of this month. Though we are still under conference and governmental restrictions on large gatherings, there are several ways in which we may commemorate Joe’s service, share our love for him and his family, and extend our warm farewell wishes.

Drive-By Farewell: St. Luke’s will hold a drive-by send-off for Joe and Lori on Sunday afternoon, June 21st. While you will not be able to shake Joe’s hand, nor give Joe and Lori a big hug, you will be able to share a hearty wave and shout of good will from the safe distance of your car as we do an organized drive-thru in the main parking lot at the church. Plan to drive by any time between 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, June 21st.

Love Offering: The church is accepting a love offering for Joe and Lori. You may send your contribution to the church office, contribute online, or drop in the offering box at the drive-thru celebration. Please indicate clearly that your gift is for the Pastor Love Offering. Pastor Joe has generously and respectfully requested that all of the proceeds of the love offering be devoted to a health care fund for the church staff, and our church Admin Council and Finance Committee have agreed to honor his request.

E-Mail and Video: If you would like to send a personal e-mail note of farewell to Joe and Lori, you may send your message to revjoeandloriwestfall@gmail.com, a special address that has been created exclusively for farewell sentiments. These e-mails will be compiled into a remembrance book for Joe and Lori. They will be able to view it electronically as well.

Members of the congregation are also invited to submit a short video clip message for inclusion in a farewell video. To submit your short clip, you may:

1. DropBox your video to jessica@slumc.org (using DropBox from your own account)

2. Upload your video to YouTube, make unlisted if you prefer, and email the link to Jessica@slumc.org.

3. Email your video file directly to jessica@slumc.org. Sometimes large files don’t go through, so if using this method, please follow-up within a day or two to be sure it was received.

4. Make an appointment to meet Jessica Stamey at church and she will film you.

Worship and Prayers: Pastor Joe will lead his last worship service at St. Luke’s for broadcast on Sunday, June 28th. That service will include the formal Methodist farewell liturgy and our prayers for the Westfalls. In addition, look for Joe’s personal farewell thoughts in the June edition of The Messenger.
