LEADER OF MODERN WORSHIP

POSITION TITLE: Leader of Modern Worship

JOB SUMMARY: Leads the praise and worship team in a modern setting to create an inspiring, relevant, and welcoming worship experience for all participants. Major components of the job include collaborating with the Senior Pastor and Staff to develop, plan, and execute the worship plan and coordinating the technical, production, and support requirement for worship.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


Commit to being spiritually prepared to minister to the congregation through music and word.

Recruit, train, coach, and care for a team of vocalists and musicians who are comfortable on stage and expressive in their praise and worship before God.

Inspire and encourage the congregation to participate actively in the service.

Work in collaboration with the Coordinator of Digital Ministry in developing and creating the vocal, instrumental, and audio/visual aesthetics needed to engage the congregation in joyful, spirit filled worship. 

Evaluate and select music that is God honoring, relevant to the message, and within the expertise of the team.

Maintain a working knowledge of audio, visual, and lighting software and equipment.

Maintain a working knowledge of best practices in worship preparation and delivery.

Commit to and conduct regular planning meetings and effective rehearsals.

Provide the vocalists and musicians with necessary documentation and resources needed to complete their assigned tasks and optimize their gifts and talents.

Continuously review the worship experience to ensure its relevance to the congregation and direction of the Church.



QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS


A minimum of three years of experience as a people manager, exhibiting skills in leadership, recruitment, staff development, communication and coaching, and conflict resolution.

As a disciple of Jesus Christ, candidate is called to a music and teaching ministry.

Candidate must have experience as a worship leader in a modern setting, with the ability to set the tone and flow of the service using God’s word, music, and enthusiastic connection with the congregation.

Candidate must have a professional and dynamic demeanor, and ability to inspire their team and congregation.

Candidate must be a gifted vocalist and musician, with technical skills in performance of live music and use of associated equipment.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS


High school graduate or GED required.

An Associate of Arts degree with an emphasis on music preferred

Audio-Visual Production Technician 

POSITION TITLE:             Audio-Visual Production Technician 

REPORTS TO:                   Senior Pastor  

FLSA STATUS:                  Salaried, up to 20 Hrs. Per Week

St. Luke’s is seeking a part-time Audio-Visual Production Technician to manage and direct all audio-visual production components for the Modern and Traditional worship services to create an inspiring, relevant, and welcoming worship experience. Major components of the job include collaborating with the Senior Pastor and Staff to develop, plan, and deliver quality visuals and sounds designed for worship.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Direct the set-up, operation, and troubleshooting of all audio and visual components to include sound boards and mixing, lighting programs and apparatus, cameras, switchers, livestream production, screen creation and operation during services. 

 

Recruit, train and support adult and youth audio visual volunteers.

 

Ensure the operational readiness of equipment and volunteers prior to and after each service.  

 


Help with the creation and design of visual elements for worship.


Participate in worship planning meetings as needed.

 

Maintain a working knowledge of current technology, equipment, and best practices in worship production preparation and delivery.

 

Manage the annual budget and subscription programs for technology (Pro-presenter, streaming services, and Mac operating systems. 


Serve as lead liaison in collaboration with the Church Administrator to recruit, train and supply volunteer AV support to outside organizations conducting events on campus. 


Serve as lead technical consultant to church leadership on issues of equipment acquisitions, maintenance, and outside services.

 


Oversee the upkeep and maintenance of the audio, visual and other technical  components of worship.


QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Committed to helping others find and follow Jesus.
  • Committed to contributing to and supporting a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to run and troubleshoot all worship production equipment and presentation software (At a minimum, Pro-presenter, Mac OS).
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in Audio-Visual production.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Accompanist

Position Title: Accompanist

Report To: Leader of Traditional Music

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Responsibilities:

  • Accompany choirs during rehearsals and performances as directed by the Leader of Traditional Music.
  • Prepare for and perform at Wednesday night rehearsals .
  • Prepare for and perform at Sunday Services with rehearsals beginning at 10:30 a.m.
  • Accompany choirs, soloists, and other ensembles for special services to include but not limited to Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday.
  • May be required to assist with Sunday Modern Worship Services beginning at 9 a.m.
  • Consult with the Leader of Traditional Music in planning weekly worship services.
  • Assist the Leader of Traditional Music with securing coverage for absences.
  • Work with the Leader of Traditional Music to bring an atmosphere of worship and community to  rehearsals and services.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to read music.
  • Demonstrated keyboard and musical skills. Ability to play organ preferred.
  • Ability to supervise maintenance of instruments in collaboration with the Leader of Traditional Music.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience accompanying vocalists and instrumentalists.

Weddings and Funerals:

  • Performance at weddings and funerals are outside the parameters of this job description and may be performed at her/his discretion. However, when members of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church or their family members are involved, it is highly suggested to be available if at all possible.
  • Payment for assisting with these special services should be made prior to the service by the family of the deceased .  Fees shall be in accordance with established St. Luke’s wedding and funeral policy.

Other:

  • Must be called to Music Ministry.
  • Exhibit a spirit of positive cooperation with the staff.
  • Maintain an active concern for the life and mission of the Church.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary for the support of the music ministry of St. Luke’s.

Job Evaluation:

  • On an annual basis, performance evaluations will be conducted by the Leader of Traditional Music in collaboration with the Staff Parish Relations Committee. New employees will be subject to an evaluation at the end of their 90-day probationary period.
